Fine Antique Georgian Mourning Ring, dated 1826. This exceptional Georgian mourning ring has a rectangular black enamel panel framed with applied gold decoration and centred with a glazed locket insert containing finely woven hair. The partially enamelled shoulders are richly chased with floral and foliate motifs in high relief.

The reverse is engraved with a memorial inscription dated 1826 and reads

“Josiah Evans died 9 April 1826 aged 70
Janet Evans died 3 July 1821 aged 62”

Condition: Excellent antique condition with light wear consistent with age. The glazed locket insert remains intact.
