Opal & Diamond Pendant, circa 1960’s. Of traditional oval cluster design, the central solid crystal opal surrounded by sixteen brilliant cut diamonds of estimated total weight 1.20 carats. 9ct white gold. Weight 5 grams. Length 22mm. Width 15mm.

White opals, sometimes referred to as milky or milk opals, are distinguished by their pale white or light body tone. As with any kind of opal, white opals can display any colour of the spectrum. White opals tend to be more plentiful and common than black or boulder opal. White opals are found in South Australia in the major opal fields of Coober Pedy Andamooka and Mintabie.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Opal displaying good play of colour, red orange yellow green and blue purple. Diamonds of estimated colour H, clarity VS.
