Gundorph Albertus began his long career in 1905, training initially as a silver chaser. He studied silver smithing in Munich and in Paris at École des Arts Décoratifs. Upon his return to Denmark in 1911 he began studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Arts as a sculptor as well as working for Georg Jensen as a chaser. He graduated as a sculptor in 1915. From 1926-1954 Albertus was Assistant Director at Georg Jensen and from 1935 he was also head of production at Georg Jensen.
Albertus was inspired by the the Art Deco style and aimed for a refined and stylised look in his work.
His most famous flatware designs are Cactus from 1930 and Mitra from 1941.
