Vintage European Rose Cut Diamond Ring, the two-tone ring set with a central rose cut diamond.18ct rose and white gold. Weight 7.3 grams. Ring size V.

Dating back to the 1600’s, rose cuts are one of the earliest diamond cuts. Their most obvious feature is a flat base with a faceted domed top. The definite advantage of a rose cut is volume. With all the weight on the top of the stone (rather than beneath) you can have a diamond with a larger footprint than a brilliant cut diamond of a similar weight. The downside is they may not be as bright and sparkly in natural light, but they will work ‘brilliantly’ in candlelight.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The rose cut diamond measuring 4.4mm in diameter.
