Art Nouveau Style Peridot & Seed Pearl Pendant, c1900

Art Nouveau Style Peridot & Seed Pearl Pendant. This beautiful pendant dates to the early the early 1900s and is set with two bright green oval peridots and small seed pearls.

Also known as lavaliers, this style of pendant are believed to have been named after the Duchess Louise de La Vallière, the mistress of French King Louis XIV in the mid 17th Century. 

The use of seed pearls and peridot is very typical of the Art Nouveau period, as are the pendant's flowing lines.
