Antique Ruby & Diamond Cluster Ring, the central round ruby of estimated weight 0.63 carat, surrounded by eight old brilliant cut diamonds of estimated total weight 0.64 carats. 14ct yellow gold. Weight 8.3 grams. Ring size K.

Rubies, like sapphires are gem varieties of the mineral corundum. (Aluminium Oxide). Long considered one of the world’s most precious gemstones, corundum is second only to diamond in terms of hardness. Rubies are the red variety of corundum and they contain chromium. A small amount of chromium in corundum will produce a pink colour, but to be considered a true ruby, there must be enough chromium for the gem to be a distinctly red, or slightly purplish-red colour.

Condition: Very good condition. This ring has been recently re-shanked. The ruby is of good even purplish red colour and is very clean (transparent and free from inclusions). The ruby measure 5.1 x 3.2mm. The old cut diamonds are of estimated colour H-J and clarity SI.
