An Outstanding Ceylonese Sapphire & Diamond Cluster Ring, four claw set with an oval natural blue sapphire of estimated weight 7.09 carats and surrounded twenty brilliant cut diamonds of total estimated weight 0.31 carats. 18ct yellow gold. Weight 6.23 grams. Ring size M. The ring is accompanied by a recent Independent Valuation for Retail Replacement of $18,000 and states no evidence of heat treatment.
Sapphires, like rubies are gem varieties of the mineral corundum. (Aluminium Oxide). Long considered one of the world’s most precious gemstones, corundum is second only to diamond in terms of hardness. Sapphires come in a range of colours including green, yellow, blue, orange, black and pink. Blue sapphires are the most common and gems with a rich blue to violet colour being the most desirable.
Condition: Excellent condition. The large oval sapphire a very pretty cornflower blue. The colour is even and the stone is very clean with very faint silk inclusions running the length of the stone, visible only in certain light or directions. No Evidence of Heat Treatment.
