Opal, Emerald & Diamond Cluster Ring. Of classic cluster design and set with a central oval, white opal cabochon of estimated weight 3 carats, and surrounded by a line of alternating circular cut emeralds and round brilliant cut diamonds. Total estimated weight of eight diamonds 0.40 carat. 18ct yellow gold and platinum. Weight 8.79 grams. Ring size N.

White opals, sometimes referred to as milky or milk opals, are distinguished by their pale white or light body tone. As with any kind of opal, white opals can display any colour of the spectrum. White opals tend to be more plentiful and common than black or boulder opal. Because of their pale body tone, white opals may appear to have less vibrant colour than boulder opals and black opals. White opals are found in South Australia in the major opal fields of Coober Pedy, Andamooka and Mintabie.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The high domed white opal cabochon displays good play of colour, predominantly green with red/orange, yellow and blue purple. The opal has no abrasions or crazing and measures 12.64 x 9.08 x 4.6mm.
