Antique Australian Gold Watch Chain, Harry Gaskell, Melbourne
Exceptionally good Antique Australian Gold Watch Chain, Harry Gaskell, Melbourne, the fancy link watch chain hung with swivel catches, a T-Bar and a Dutch Ducat dated 1832. A beautifully made chain the T-Bar is also marked Le Lievre, likely the name of the retailer of the watch chain, operating from 1913-26 in Port Pirie, South Australia.
Harry Gaskell founded his Melbourne based chain making business in 1894. Based at 294 Little Collins Street, Gaskell produced a huge range of gold and silver chain. His chains were marked with his an acorn, his makers mark, and sometimes the name of individual retailers.
