Vintage Opal & Diamond Horseshoe Pendant, the central panel a carved solid white opal horse’s head, set within a gold horseshoe and mounted on a brilliant cut diamond set bar. 14ct rose gold. Weight 14.1 grams. Length including bale 5.5cm. Width 3.5cm. Opal height 3cm. Width 2.5cm. Stamped 585, 14k. Maker's Mark JJ.

White opals, sometimes referred to as milky or milk opals, are distinguished by their pale white or light body tone. As with any kind of opal, white opals can display any colour of the spectrum. White opals tend to be more plentiful and common than black or boulder opal. White opals are found in South Australia in the major opal fields of Coober Pedy Andamooka and Mintabie.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Opal displaying good play of colour, red orange yellow green and blue purple. Diamonds of estimated colour H, clarity VS.
